Frequently asked questions
- Are my images uploaded to create the PDF?
- No. The PDF is built in your browser with the jsPDF library and saved straight to your device.
- Which images can I add to the PDF?
- JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and HEIC/HEIF (iPhone) images up to 50 MB each. A HEIC photo is decoded in your browser and placed upright; the decoder (about 3 MB) is downloaded only the first time you add one. An animated GIF becomes one page showing its first frame. Other types, such as SVG or TIFF, are rejected with a message. A file that cannot be read (for example a text file renamed to .jpg) is marked with an error and left out of the PDF; the others still make the PDF, and the message tells you how many were skipped.
- Can I change the page order?
- Yes. Drag the thumbnails or use the move left and right buttons. Each image becomes one page, in the order shown.
- Can I rotate a page?
- Yes. Press the rotate button on a thumbnail to turn that image 90° clockwise; press again for 180° and 270°. The thumbnail, the preview and the PDF page all follow, so a sideways scan or photo comes out upright. On A4 and Letter the page turns portrait or landscape to suit the rotated image.
- Which page sizes can I choose?
- Original makes each page exactly the size of its image in pixels, with no margin. A4 and Letter can have a 10 or 20 mm margin; the page turns portrait or landscape to suit the image, which is scaled to fit without cropping.
- Will the images lose quality in the PDF?
- With PDF size set to Original, PNG, GIF and BMP images stay lossless PNG (sharp text in screenshots and scans, transparency kept) and JPEG photos keep their original data with no re-compression; a JPEG you rotate or that is shrunk to fit A4/Letter is re-encoded at 95%, and WebP, AVIF and HEIC become JPEG at 92% with transparent areas turned white. Balanced (JPEG 80%, at most 2480 px on the long side) and Small (JPEG 60%, at most 1654 px) make a much lighter file for email or online forms; the page size stays the same and small images are never enlarged. On A4 and Letter pages images are also limited to 200 DPI. Pages are rendered two at a time to keep memory low.
